Year 6

Welcome to our Year 6 class page.

This is the place to find all the latest news, updates, and information about life in Year 6. We’ll also keep this page updated with important dates, homework information, class projects, and special events. Don’t forget to check back regularly to see what we’ve been up to, view our latest photos, and celebrate the brilliant achievements of our Year 6 pupils.

Our wonderful teaching team includes Mr Catton in 6A and Miss Iredale in 6B, supported by our fantastic teaching assistants — Mrs Dessi, Mr Cook, and Miss Garrod. Together, we’re looking forward to an amazing year filled with inspiring learning, new challenges, and plenty of fun along the way.

We want the children's final year in primary school to be the best and most memorable yet. Alongside exciting learning, they take on the important role of being Reception buddies, spending time helping and playing with our youngest children during buddy time. We also enjoy fun whole-school traditions such as our trip to the pantomime at Christmas, and the highlight of the year – our three-day residential at Newby Wiske Hall in July! As well as making memories, we also focus on preparing our pupils for secondary school, helping them to develop independence, confidence, and resilience so that their transition is as smooth and successful as possible. Year 6 is all about working hard, having fun, and getting ready for the exciting new challenges ahead.

We can’t wait to share our learning journey with you — it’s going to be a fantastic year!
