Our school council members are elected early in the Autumn Term. Children who wish to represent their class are asked to deliver a manifesto to their classmates, who then vote for the candidate that they think will represent them best. Two children from each class are elected. The election process helps to develop a knowledge and understanding of democracy, which is one of our British Values. School Council meetings take place after school on a half termly basis. This year the School Council have helped to promote children’s rights as part of our journey on becoming a Rights Respecting School. They have also had a significant role in developing our outdoor area and introducing OPAL to the rest of the school. School council members communicate regularly with their peers, sharing ideas and helping to solve problems. They are also responsible for managing the school tuck shop.
