Welcome to Year 6 with Mrs Shaw, Miss Iredale and Mrs Dessi. It’s our final year in Ravensworth before we move on to secondary school. We have lots to look forward to during this year including our annual theatre trip, transition, our residential and our fabulous leavers’ celebrations.
In English, we read many exciting texts, our two favourites being Groosham Grange in the autumn term and Holes in spring. Maths lessons build on our skills learnt in earlier years and we also learn some new topics including ratio and algebra. In History, we learn about the slave trade, how it began and how it was abolished.
As well as this, we study both World War I and World War II. Our Year 6 pupils always find these topics thoroughly engaging and are intrigued to find out more. In other areas of our curriculum, we create artwork with items we would usually throw away, compare processed and home-made foods (which we make ourselves) and compare the two polar regions in our Frozen Kingdoms project as well as many more exciting topics in our other subjects.
